Mental Health Awareness

Mental Health Awareness means recognizing that mental illness is just as real as any other physical illness. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It means we have to educate people on what it means to be diagnosed with it, and how to handle your love one. We have to learn to help remove the stigma that surrounds it. Talking about mental health isn't anything to be ashamed of, and we have to make sure we get educated so those who need help, get the help they need. We need less judgement, and more encouragement.

In the African American community mental illness is frowned upon, and usually know one talks about it. African American women are more likely to be diagnosed than our Caucasian sisters. African American women tend to be misdiagnosed, which lends to strokes and heart conditions.
